Dr. Jamie Schmauder

Dr. Schmauder was born and raised in Northern Virginia. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville with a major in Biology. Upon completing her undergraduate studies, she then continued her education attending the Southern College of Optometry (SCO) in Memphis, TN where she consistently engaged with the student body in leadership roles including being selected as an exemplary representative of the college giving campus tours to prospective students, alumni, and other professionals. She also served as a Student Ambassador for her class and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2024.

At SCO, Dr. Schmauder clinically trained in ocular disease diagnosis and treatment including infectious diseases, glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetes.

She also completed clinical rotations in pediatrics, primary care, low vision rehabilitation, contact lenses, and vision therapy. During her clinical rotations, she gained extensive experience in fitting specialty contact lenses and treated active-duty military at Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center (formerly Fort Belvoir Community Hospital). She completed an additional clinical rotation in complex contact lens fitting with Dr. Seth Salley at Clearview Family Eyecare where she gained experience correcting the vision of patients with traumatic corneal injuries and corneal diseases. We welcome her expertise in this area of eyecare.

In her spare time Dr. Schmauder enjoys reading, going to the beach, hanging out with her rescue dog Mac, boyfriend Chase and her family. She is also somewhat of a foodie and enjoys experiencing new restaurants and trying new types of food!

Dr. Schmauder is very excited to provide eyecare to the Williamsburg community and explore her new city!
